A global initiative calling for stronger international cooperation to advance sustainable development through digital science and technology was unveiled on Thursday at the "International Forum on Science for Sustainable Development," a parallel event of the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum.

BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Participants at a parallel forum of the 2025 Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing unveiled an initiative on Thursday, calling for global collaboration to leverage digital science and technology to accelerate sustainable development and address global challenges.

The 5th International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals（FBAS 2025）will be held from 6 to 8 September 2025 in Beijing. This forum will bring together top scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, and practitioners from around the globe to explore how to innovatively leverage digital technologies to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs, injecting new momentum and wisdom into global sustainable development.

On February 28, 2025, Lidia Brito, UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, wrote to Prof. Guo Huadong, CBAS Director-General——“I am pleased to inform you of the endorsement of your initiative entitled “Digital Sustainable Development Goals Programme” as a Programme of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD).”

From January 26 to 30, 2025, the Muscat Global Knowledge Dialogue and the 3rd International Science Council (ISC) General Assembly were held in Muscat, Oman.
