On 10th Nov. 2023, a delegation led by Sir Peter Gluckman, ISC President, and Dr. Salvatore Aricò, ISC Chief Executive Officer, visited the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) and its affiliated international organizations and programs.
On behalf of CBAS, Prof. Guo Huadong, the Director-General of CBAS, extended a warm welcome and expressed hope to further strengthen extensive cooperation with ISC in fields such as science for policy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and science-society interactions.
In his remarks, Sir Peter Gluckman reaffirmed that digital and space technologies represent the future of decision-making. However, on a global scale, there is a need to raise awareness about the significance and limitations of data. He mentioned that currently, while science is rapidly advancing, the application of these technologies is relatively slow. This calls for harnessing the great power of big data to integrate different models, algorithms, and systems. ISC looks forward to making greater contributions with CBAS by uniting international scientific and technological forces and establishing innovative global solutions for sustainable development.
The delegation visited the SDG Big Data Platform and its collaborative analysis system, SDG science satellite system, visualization and application system, and data sharing system. They also engaged in in-depth exchanges with scientists and representatives on topics such as the coordinated development of big data technology and policy-making, along with the integration of big data and artificial intelligence.
